Last weekend when we visited my grandparents James got to experience his first ride on a swing. This is what he thinks of it.(Ok I just looked this post over and by "this is what he thinks of it" I was referring to his facial expressions not my little commentary.)

Every Little Dutch Girl's Dream
Saturday, Mom and I went up to Branson shopping. On the way we stopped at Lowe's for a variety of things (paint samples, swing for James, and miscellaneous items for Dad). I was looking for Mom and some ornamental grass in no particular order when I wandered out to the garden center and to my delight found flats of tulips on clearance. Flats of 15 -20 tulip bulbs originally $10.00 on clearance for a mere 2.50. Being Dutch to the very core I was and still am Thrilled! Cheap Tulips! Does it get any better than that? I raced back into the store to collect a flat shopping buggy and Mom. Back in the garden center I hunted down and purchased two fats each of red, orange, purple, yellow, white, and red and white tulips. It was only after I paid the nice lady at the register that I remembered that I had driven my "smart car". Where, oh where was I going to put all of these flowers, my son, mom, me the stroller and the diaper bag, never mind all of the things we hoped to buy the rest of the day?!? With some careful packing Mom and I managed to squeeze it all in. We did do some trimming on the tulips nearest the curious, pudgy, hands of one darling boy. Although, we wonder how effective the trimming really was, for we are quite certain that the foreign object in the afore mentioned darling boy's mouth upon our arrival home was indeed a tulip leaf. Now, it is plant, plant, plant for me.

Three Years Today
The night before the big day we had a designated pampering time. Lin took this satin lips business serious. :) Kryn as always is one cool chickie and well the rest of us are just pretty darn excited.
The pictures were so much fun. Some people thought that I was a little uptight and well, I just wanted everything perfect and it was.
If you look closely you will see Kryn's lips never touched Tim's cheek. She just flat out refused. I believe her response was something along the lines of "Ew...I'm not gonna" but don't get the wrong impression they are very close.

An Open What?!?
Often in my life I have spoken about having an open mind. If you know me, you know I believe it is of utmost importance to be open minded. What good is a window if it can not be opened? Yes, some light may filter in though the glass but the fresh air we need will be just beyond us. Of course I will not argue that we do not need screens. Even the tiniest of bugs can be deadly, but this is why God gave us a screen. We have the tools we just need to use them. We would all think some one to be incredibly silly if they were so scared of a potentially hazardous insect entering the house that they refused to open their windows even though they had very capable screens on every window.
So why are we so often so close minded? What are we scared of? Are we scared of having to use the screen?
I am close minded to close mindedness. Does this make me the exact thing I am preaching against?

James and the Giant Pancake
James had his first experience with a pancake yesterday morning. We started him out with a few nicely cut pieces but he informed us that that was for the birds. After many attempts ( some fruitful and some not so fruitful) to get the fluffy goodness into his mouth I gave him a whole pancake. This went much better. In the end there bits and pieces of pancake in every cranny of his high chair and all over the floor. I read in Parents about putting newspaper under the highchair while your baby learns to feed himself and I thought it was hogwash, now I can see the joys of it. :) Pancake is relatively easy to clean up but it may be useful in other cases. It really doesn't get better than all this. :)

"Hot Cross Buns, Get Your Hot Cross Buns!"
Hmmm...I hear that these are pretty darn good. I've never had them and they don't sell them here so maybe I will surf the 'net till I find a recipe so that I too may partake of them. Its been rumored that they are so good that they can just about solve the world's problems. If not, I'm sure they are at least great comfort food. They look Awesome. I've got to get me some.
